Letter of Good Standing

There is a $ 35.00 fee for each request for a "Letter of Good Standing"  as well all licensees are required to complete a Consent for Release of Information Form.

Frequently, a request for a “Letter of Good Standing” suggests a move to another licensing jurisdiction.

When a dental professional either relinquishes his / her license or does not intend to renew his / her license, several things must be kept in mind.

  1. It is necessary that the Board be advised, in writing, of the intended action.  The individual is then placed in an inactive file as opposed to being struck from the Register for non-payment of fees.
  2. The three-year Continuing Dental Education cycle is interrupted and upon relicensure, the cycle is extended to include the unexpired term.
  3. The Nova Scotia Dental Assistants' Association (NSDAA) must be advised, in writing, to ensure that all membership obligations are honored.

Should one apply for relicensure in the future, qualifications, as outlined in Regulation No. 1 must be met; among others this includes;

  1. Letter from most previous employer verifying that you have engaged in the practice of dental assisting within the preceeding five year period.
  2. Verification of active membership in the Nova Scotia Dental Assistants' Association.
  3. Letter of Good Standing from the previous jurisdiction last licensed.
  4. Payment of the current year’s license fees.

If further information is required please contact the Provincial Dental Board of Nova Scotia.
