Update on Timing of Guidelines for a Phased Return to Non-Emergency Care

Further to the May 9 update, the Board’s efforts to finalize our guidelines for the safe return to practice continue.  Over the weekend we received substantive and helpful feedback from the Phoenix Working Group’s Stakeholder Advisory Committee.  We are currently incorporating that feedback into the guidelines.

The Provincial Dental Board continues to be in close communication with Dr. Strang and his team as they develop a phased approach to relaxing restrictions.  We expect to present a finalized guideline to Dr. Strang for his review very soon.    As soon as the guidelines are finalized and reviewed by Dr. Strang and his office, we will begin to share them with registrants, so that you may properly prepare for an orderly return to dental practice in dental clinics.  Our goal is to begin sharing this information this week.

The Provincial Dental Board would once again like to thank all registrants in managing the dental care of Nova Scotians during these very difficult times.  The Board recognizes that its registrants have risen to meet the challenges posed by COVID-19, and, have made considerable sacrifices in doing so.

The Board continues to work to ensure a safe return to practice as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Dr. Martin Gillis, DDS
Registrar
